Day 52 - Murphy North Carolina Public Library

Just a brief message in passing - it's treatening to rain and I came into town. The library newtwork is blocking my access to Facebook but I filled an application for Social Security benefits and got my Senior pass to federal recreation sites (excpet for COE - includes all day use fees and half price on camping - my camp site only cost $4 a night). Yes that means I'm official an old fart now. Dog and I took a walk - then spent an hour picking off ticks - If Big Brother captures me, ticks will be one of the things he will use to torment me.

The mind ‘in itself’ can only be ‘superficial’, its nature being uniquely concerned with the arrangement of conceptual events and not with their implications in the spheres they ‘signify’ – E M Cioran – A Short History of Decay, 1975 p28

We each make the journey back
Out in sunlight it was different
Than this same path back in the dark

Then there had been the promise
      Of progress
Now we just  wangt somewhere to lie down

But how we must resist
     Taking the next step
Returning back upon the beginning

But now words are beginning to be heard / And the signaling chimes of light rhymes - / Then I begin to comprehend, / And the simply dictated lines / Lie down in place on the snow-white page – Anna Akhmatova – The Complete Poems, 1992 p413

The sun has came out as he was stroking her inner right thigh – they take time off from a long kiss to exchange a few words and he squints as he looks into the sun. He nibbles on her ear as he wispers. It is a whisper if you cannot hear what he is saying from across the room and I couldn’t.

Any one who has ever skirted an archipelago, knows the uncanny facility which the islands have of appearing and disappearing – Henry Miller – The Wisdom of the Heart, 1960 p13

There was no apple in evolution’s eye
Giving sometime a meaning
      Is one of our abilities
It is an act of hindsight
Understanding and significance
     Are opposites
And for this theory we
     Give a grade of B+
     Mostly for effort
          Which was heroic
It should be rewarded
     For what is heroic belies
           Its meaning
Nothing completely explains
           It all
The best and the brightest
Still pine for a unified theory
It is not enough to have just
     A good idea
     And grade each song according
            To its dancebiity

It is not easy to destroy an idol: it takes as much time as is required to promote and to worship one. For it is not enough to annihilate its material symbol, which is easy, but its roots in the soul – E M Cioran – A Short History of Decay, 19 p16
